Exchange interaction in the yellow exciton series of cuprous oxide

چکیده

We experimentally and numerically investigate the exchange interaction of yellow excitons in cuprous oxide. By varying material parameters numerical calculations, we can interpret experimental findings understand their origin complex band structure central-cell corrections. In particular, observe reversal ortho- paraexciton for $2S$ exciton, explain this phenomenon by an avoided crossing with green $1S$ orthoexciton a detailed analysis. Furthermore, discuss splitting as function principal quantum number $n$ its deviation from $n^{-3}$ behavior expected hydrogenlike model. also why observed exciton is more than twice state.

Temperature dependence of exciton Auger decay process in Cuprous Oxide

We report theoretical and experimental study on Auger decay of excitons in Cu2O in a wide range of temperatures, from 2 Kelvin to 325 Kelvin, in single-photon surface excitation. We find that the Auger constant linearly increases with temperature above 100 Kelvin. This constant is important for experiments on Bose condensation of excitons.

The exchange interaction for the yellow 1S orthoexciton in Cu2O is derived up to the order K2. The resulting exchange splittings are verified experimentally using high resolution spectroscopy. In agreement with theory the fine structure shows a characteristic dependence on the direction of the wave vector.
